I'm trying to add friends to my Wii adress book, but they are still greyed
out after 24 hours! I've also tried to add my own PC's email address as a
check, but that is also greyed out.
Are the Nintendo servers overloaded with all the new Wiis sold over
Christmas perhaps??

That's not the whole truth: You can play _flash_ games for free! There
are several web pages which show collections of wii playable games.
Many of them are optimized for the Wii Internet Channel.
Examples:

If the PS3 is the new Gamecube, then Sony must be the new Nintendo.

how the Gamecube was such a failure, how Nintendo would not come out
with another console after the Gamecube, how Nintendo had seen its
best days, how the Nintendo Revolution would never happen, then the
squealing and shrieking when the Wii was announced about how it was

All it was meant to indicate was that while the U.S. sales numbers for
the Playstation 3 have not been stellar in much the same way the U.S.
sales numbers for the GameCube were not stellar, the Playstation 3
*did* sell significantly better in Europe than the GameCube did so the
idea that the Playstation 3 is at all similar to the GameCube as far
as sales power is laughable at best.

Really? I *know* you include me in that group and I never once
predicted doom and gloom for the GameCube. In fact, I enjoyed the
games on that system very much and was hoping that it would be a rise
back to the top for Nintendo. I guess I was just one generation too
early.

Really? I was quite confident prior to the beginning of this
generation that the Xbox 360 would do better than the Playstation 3
this time around. I was also quite confident that the Nintendo Wii
would trounce both systems because of their strategy.
But if you want to get into people who have a 100% track record of
being completely wrong about anything to do with console video games,
you should look back at pretty much every post you've ever contributed
since the beginning of this generation...
