 | | Dear Friends and Guests, | Amid widespread social and economic uncertainty driven by the global health crisis, the gaming and hospitality industries face unprecedented challenges. Within days, we have transitioned from a vibrant industry to experiencing the near total shutdown of business. As organizations like ours take action to slow the spread of COVID-19 and state governments mandate business closures across various jurisdictions, our employees and communities are among those most gravely impacted.
We have made the safety of our employees and our guests our top priority by voluntarily closing our properties in Las Vegas on March 17. As concerns continued to mount in regional locations, we announced the closure of all our properties nationwide. We are mindful that even while we are prioritizing safety, these actions put the economic well-being of people and communities at risk. To alleviate impact, we are taking actions like extending health benefits for those who are on our health plans and impacted by layoffs or furloughs, through June 30. We also are working with industry partners on recommendations for federal intervention that will help ensure our company – and our industry –recover from this crisis and return to providing you with world-class entertainment and hospitality as soon as it is safe to do so.
We regret the dire choices we have had to make, including the interruption of vacations and the postponement of plans that mean so much to so many. Because you are among our most valued guests, I want to express how much we appreciate your business and how grateful we are for your loyalty to MGM Resorts – now, more than ever. We understand that you have questions around your M life Rewards status during this time and we will communicate details to you in the near future around our plans to help you continue to enjoy the status and benefits you've come to expect.
Our company has been tested before, and our spirit – while dampened during these difficult days– is strong. Although the experiences of our past have been radically different from those of today, one consistent lesson threads through them all: we must care for and have faith in one another. If we do, we will emerge stronger together.
Please keep our employees, their families and our community partners in your thoughts as you go about your day, as we will keep you in ours. And please call on us if we can answer your travel planning or cancellation questions.
Please abide by recommendations from government and health officials and stay safe. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. | Sincerely,
 | Jim Murren Chairman and CEO | | |
